Years ago, I was given this book titled Water: for Health, for Healing, for Life. It was left on my doorstep anonymously, gift-wrapped (as Christmas was approaching). Not knowing what it was, my wife and I decided to wait until Christmas to open the gift. Our curiosity increased as we anticipated the arrival of Christmas morning when the package's contents would be revealed. We did not see this coming! After browsing some of the pages, I felt that while there is no question in my mind of the importance of drinking water and maintaining a balanced and healthy diet, some of the ideas presented seemed far-fetched and unrealistic...even amusing. With the novelty of the new book I received, I read aloud to my family randomly selected pages from which we all chuckled and occasionally received a good laugh. After a reading, the phrase "You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty!" was then often referenced as the solution to all of our ailments.
We recently came across the book, having been buried in boxes and seldom browsed bookcases over the years. With Christmas time approaching again, we thought it would make for a good white elephant gift. Thus we could pawn it off and let someone else enjoy it as we did. For some odd reason, the gift was never selected and worked its way back into our hands...now what?!
Upon further examination, the book contained a short, hand-written message from the original gift-giver that reads as follows:
Brother and Sister Folkman,Christ is the Fountain of Living Waters (1 Nephi 11:25)The more I learn about the healing powers of water the more I feel I understand the importance of Christ in my life; I hope it can do the same for you.
I don't know how I missed this! But it caught my attention. I am finally interested in actually reading this book as I am always striving to better understand Jesus Christ and His atonement for mankind. I also noticed that the author encourages readers to "share the information in this book with others who might need it." As I read, I will share the information in this book. I hope you will find my thoughts on it interesting, helpful, inspiring, or just good for a laugh. And I hope you will share your thoughts too.
